Samuel Wilding was also known by the alias Samuel Jordon. He was the first cousin of Tom Wilding of Burrowa.
Samuel was born in Lavenham, Suffolk, England in about 1810. Charged at Suffolk Quarter Sessions Court on 27 June 1836, with Horse Stealing and received a ‘life’ sentence. He was transported to the colony of New South Wales arriving on 8th May 1837 on the convict ship ‘Prince George’. His Occupation in England was shown as ‘Ladies Boot and Shoemaker’

DESCRIPTION- Henry Jordon alias Samual Wilding, per Prince George 1838 from London. Shoemaker; height 5 feet 6½ inches, fair complexion, sun burnt, age 25, brown hair, hazel eyes, W inside lower part of right arm, indented ‘S. back of right hand, mark of scrofula back lefthand. » EDWIN HICKEY.
On 14 Oct 1840, he was apprehended after absconding from Edwin Hickey in the Hunter River area.
Applied to marry Emma Jeffrys on 22 Jul 1841, but the Governor refused the application, he reapplied on 10 Aug 1841 and this was approved. Emma Jeffrys age 25 was (free emigrant per the ship ‘Bussorah Merchant’)
He died on 13 May 1869 he died at his farm at Hovell’s Creek, near Burrowa New South Wales.
The Empire – 19 May 1869, A man named Samuel Jordon, alias Wilding recently committed by the Burrowa Bench to take his trial at Yass for cattle stealing, was killed by his team running over him, at Burrowa, when in a state of intoxication last week.
