John Cherry made contact with a researcher in Hessen who kindly gave his time to explore old records in search of Meurer family.
Some interesting details that were found include the following …
- Sophie Wiegan from Kassel a witness to the 1856 baptism of Katherine Sophie Heisecke
- She was Ernest Meurer’s first cousin, the daughter of Wilhelmine Fredericke Charlotte Amelie Meurer (b 1802) and her husband Heinrich Wiegand who she married at Gensungen in 1842. Sophie Wiegand was born at Gensungen 14/3/1845 and married there in 1865.
- In 1830 two families are listed in the Gensunger church book.

- Susanne MEURER & Ludwig HESSE from Lüderheim in Waldeck had an illegitimate son, born on 3 March 1827 in Gensungen
- He was baptized on the 18th of march 1827
- Godfather was a Friederich HESSE, Ackermann from Luedersheim.
- Friedrich HESSE died in 1828
- 2. Conrad MEURER with Katharina, nee GRUNEWALD. Conrad M. awr military surgeon
- I could not find any connection between Conrad M. & Susanna M.
- I suspect both people in different ways
- Booths. Surgeon and an illegitimate child of a coachman
